Last year, I had the life of the unluckiest person alive. On the first day of summer, when I needed her the most, Fortuna, the goddess of luck left me.

Two major projects I had signed fell through, there was a breakup that kept me engrossed, and spiritually I had detached myself from my self. It was a time when I couldn't move forward. Nothing helped. The more I fought, the farther back I fell. I felt lonely and depressed. I wanted Fortuna to come back and bring with her the luck I needed to be happy, to be successful, to be the luckiest person alive.

To resolve my dilemma, I made a commitment to myself that from that day forward - I would live out of my comfort zone, I would accept the uncertainty in my life, and I would take bold risks, because every time I had done that, she had shown up with abundance of luck and happiness.

Follow these three steps to become the luckiest person in the world and live a life full of magic and wonder.

Step One:

The first commitment to myself, which brought me out of my comfort zone was to wake up every morning at 4:00 am and meditate. What started as an endless suffering became one of the best things I had ever done in my life.

I started with five minutes, at first it felt like the longest five minutes. Within a few weeks, I was doing 15 minutes. That is when it happened, in the hours following the meditation, I felt a presence of lightness. One day, I caught myself in the middle of a hysterical laugh and wondered how all of a sudden my life had become magical.

After six months, I was doing 30 minutes of pure bliss. It became so addictive that I would go to bed excited, for the next morning’s session. The initial feeling of lightness turned into an intense force. The happiness felt through the meditation practice cannot be put into words, it needs to be experienced, but if it had to be explained, it is like being high for the whole day.

We all have a powerhouse within us that produces happiness on demand but it needs to be activated. Once you start to meditate everyday, you will not only feel the energy, the power, the bliss throughout your body, you will radiate exuberance and project a powerful image of yourself. Trust me, it will blow your mind, it will completely transform you.

Step Two:

Love Yourself

Just like the ancient saying, “when the student is ready, the teacher will appear,” the Twitter goddesses directed me to Kamal Ravikant's life-changing book Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends On It.

The idea was simple but potent, as he put it, “the truth is to love yourself with the same intensity you would use to pull yourself up if you were hanging off a cliff with your fingers. As if your life depended upon it.”

The technique in this book produced such drastic changes around me that I fell in love with it. I wanted to say I love myself all the time. It made me happy, it connected me to my self. As I wrote earlier, how words have powers within them, saying I love myself transformed the way I looked at myself, the way I treated my body, the food I ate, the people I met and surrounded myself with. I did things that made me happy. Soon, friends noticed the charisma I radiated and so did their girlfriends, but that could be another blog post, all on its own!

With daily meditation and the practice of loving myself like my life depended upon it, I discovered a new voice inside of me that wanted to come out and express itself. My confidence rose and I felt an urge to create. This led me to the last step that made me the luckiest person on this planet.

Step Three:

Express Yourself

Rumi said, “everyone has been made for some particular work and the desire for that work has been placed in every heart.” I had always wanted to write a novel, since I was 13 years old but never did. It was time to revive my commitment - every morning after meditation, I would write for a few hours. Inspired by Stephen King, I kept my door shut, disconnected the internet, and turned the phone to silent.

I woke up at 4:00 am every morning, including on the weekends and public holidays. I didn't take a day off. Everyday, I meditated for an hour, wrote for three hours and got done before the rest of the world got up. The day after my first novel ended, I started the next one. And now, after a year, I have a trilogy.

Next year, on the first day of summer, Fortuna will bring tons of luck, when I present to the world the project I've been working on since last summer. With all the love, success, and happiness around me, I truly am the luckiest person in the world. And if I could be this lucky, you could too. All you have to do is follow the steps and live a life full of magic and wonder.
